Not only Ray Bradbury said to write a poem every day, but one of my spiritual teachers, Vernon Kitabu Turner, prescribed this as a requirement for working with him, back fifteen years ago. I’m nobody’s poet, but re-visiting this exercise I’ve decided to share any time something that seems valuable or interesting pops up.
Choose the Climb
“First there is no mountain” said the wise fool.
We cannot see the vastness before us.
It lies over the horizon, or our eyes are closed
Then we see it,
And its vastness chills and warm and challenges.
But…you cannot see the mountain and climb it at the same time.
One or the other.
