“THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND consists of a field of consciousness, in which every impulse of thought that reaches the objective mind through any of the five senses, is classified and recorded, and from which thoughts may be recalled or withdrawn as letters may be taken from a filing cabinet.”—Napoleon Hill
There are several chapters in TAGR which try to describe something that cannot quite be put into language. And one is the means by which powerful creative inspiration in alignment with natural forces can be encouraged. Another has to do with the means of increasing “luck” and drawing opportunities.
One of the fun things about the book is the very clear way Hill tries to avoid “superstition” but at the same time clearly believes that “Faith” in a larger power or “Universal Mind” is critical to the path he is laying out. What a tightrope walk! It is hard to imagine just how radical this book must have been when first written, with its chapter on “Sex Transmutation.” Wow.
Briefly put, he seems to be saying that there is a Universal Mind on one end of a wire, and we’re on the other end. Your goals must be mentalized (written down, spoken out loud) and emotionalized with desire, and then those “vibrations” “stepped up” by combining them with something as powerful and motivating as sexual energy/desire.
When this happens, when you clearly imagine what you want and WHY you want it, mixing in the “genius maker” emotions of Faith, Love, and Sex, you touch the depths of the subconscious mind and access instinctive and powerful sources of knowledge, such that you begin to operate in alignment with natural law.
What happens then? “Luck” increases drastically, to the point that people watching will think you are cheating, or a magician, like someone watching a surfer and thinking they are in control of the wave.
The “MAGIC Formula” was designed to tap into this same way of aligning conscious and unconscious minds. Thought, emotion, and action all operating together. The “Human Laser” effect that all these disciplines seem to be aiming at.
“THE SEVEN MAJOR POSITIVE EMOTIONS
The emotion of DESIRE
The emotion of FAITH
The emotion of LOVE
The emotion of SEX
The emotion of ENTHUSIASM
The emotion of ROMANCE
The emotion of HOPE”
These are to be nurtured through auto-suggestion (Morning Ritual). They can be blocked by the negative emotions:
“THE SEVEN MAJOR NEGATIVE EMOTIONS (To be avoided)
The emotion of FEAR
The emotion of JEALOUSY
The emotion of HATRED
The emotion of REVENGE
The emotion of GREED
The emotion of SUPERSTITION The emotion of ANGER”
Seems damned clear to me.
TAGR deals with this on the level of personal achievement. Let’s look at it on the level of social change.
FEAR and the negative emotions block the ability to create and perform in alignment with deep knowledge or “Infinite Intelligence.” And it is AMAZING how much damage it does. Without personal success and self-love and self-confidence, you will be attacked on all sides any time you start “waking up”—the Matrix protects itself.
Here are some common attacks:
“We won’t like you if you continue.”
“We will hurt you if you continue.”
“We will hurt your family if you continue.”
“We will hurt your career if you continue.”
“We won’t hire you if you continue.”
“I will withhold sex if you continue.”
“I will withhold friendship/tribal connection if you continue.”
“You are a bad person if you continue.”
“You are hurting me if you continue.”
And so on. People have tried to use every one of these over the years. And if I was insecure, broke, lonely, frightened, or otherwise vulnerable, IT WORKED.
But the less I need people? The less it works. And paradoxically…the more you demand independence of thought from yourself, the more power you have, and the more people are attracted.
In other words, the “denial of tribe/approval” card is a pure lie. You do NOT become more popular or safe by conforming. The opposite is actually true, so long as you are in alignment with your actual nature. I say you should find the love within you and align with that—that it is easy to believe our “true nature” is the animal survival stuff, which can lead to ego and cruelty. Be careful!
But being willing to “be yourself”, to align with nature rather than artifice, to ask “what is true?” and “who am I?” rather than “what do people want?” is your path to success on ALL levels.
Remember the Five Steps:
1) Love yourself
2) Expand “self” to include others.
3) Understand the flow of human behavior and human history without guilt, blame, or shame. Most violence stems from anger, and anger is just fear. Ask what people were afraid of, and you’ve jumped up a level of understanding…as well as increased your ability to understand and forgive yourself.
4) By knowing yourself, identify your tribe. Tiptoe around the sleepers and avoid or deal with monsters in whatever way they make necessary.
5) Succeed. As massively as you are capable in alignment with your goals and dreams. And when people ask why you are so happy? Tell them. When you see people who are unhappy? You will know why. When you see damaged social fabrics? You’ll see the problems.
Fear will block your performance, and it shatters a community. The antidote for fear is love and faith.
Start there. I promise it will be worth it.
